Trail Etiquette
Cross County Skiing Trail Etiquette There aren't a lot of rules to follow, but there are simple etiquette guidelines that are supposed to apply to all cross-country ski trails. Following is a list of the simple rules, broken down for single- and double-track trails. These apply to crosscountry skiers and groomed trails only. We'll get into ungroomed trails, which can be used by both skiers and snowshoers, in a moment.

Trails with fees
Cross Country Skiing Even if you do opt to pay for trail access, you'll still have an arm and a leg left to use to

Your tax dollars at play
Cross Country Skiing

There's no reason to let economics keep you off the trails this winter. Much of the backcountry is supported by your tax dollars, so you might as well take advantage of it. Between federal lands (Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and U.S. Forest Service property) and state land (not as well funded but not to be ignored either) you can hike, snowshoe and ski through rolling forested hills with stunning views of Great Lakes, inland lakes, rivers, hills and valleys.
